In 2009 we had a cockpit covering made to give us an extra living room in prolonged wet weather, give protection from the sun when moored and privacy in crowed marinas. There is a stern piece that can be zipped in if you cannot swing and the wind is over the stern. In very hot climates we can rig this stern piece to act as a bimini when sailing. The whole thing rolls up very neatly and we normally store it on the coach roof tied to one of the handrails.
There are dodgers for each side although we do not use them much unless there is a cold wind and flying spray. The hood has been regularly maintained and in this photograph the hand rail on the trailing edge can be clearly seen.
To protect the hull from abrasion from fenders when moored in one place for a few days we have vinyl rubbing sheets that can be hung from both sides between the fenders and the hull. There are 7 fenders, two large, four medium, and one small.
There are miscellaneous covers for the anchor winch, the BBQ, binnacle and the outboard motor as well as fly screens for all hatch openings.
In the fall of 2013 we planned to leave the boat afloat for the winter and therefore had an overall, boat cover custom made in heavy vinyl. Several points were important to us; it had to shed water over the gunwales, not just dump it on the deck; since two older people had to handle it we required it to be in manageable sections; and finally it had to be stowable without taking up too much locker space. The result protected us well in the worst storms that Morlaix had known for many years and it stores away under half of the starboard settee!
