The 200 litre fuel tank is steel, located under the cockpit behind the engine. There are internal baffles, two transverse and one longitudinal and it can be accessed from the surrounding lockers and engine compartment. Over the years we have made modifications to facilitate maintenance and avoid filters plugging too quickly. The filler pipe is in the floor of the cockpit through a piece of removable teak grating. The air vent and dip stick are just inside the sail locker.
Fuel is drawn through the top of the tank from about 1cm above the bottom. This minimises the chance of dirt being picked up from dirty fuel. (a real problem in very small, little used ports). There is a large valve, half way down the sump for draining and flushing the tank. In addition there is a smaller valve at the bottom of the sump to draw off sediment that may have collected.
Fuel for the Wabasto diesel central heating system is drawn off after the low pressure fuel filter through a small electric pump controlled by the Wabasto computer.
The water separator and L P fuel filter are located on the galley bulkhead and accessed most conveniently through the sail locker.
