A collection of hand, electric tools and parts has been built up over the years to undertake all conceivable maintenance and repair jobs. Many maintenance jobs require special wrench sizes, short or long handles for access, and these have been obtained as the need has arisen. In the early years we did all our own maintenance but as we got older we gradually contracted more and more out. These tools include; a Makita Cordless Drill with a wide variety of bits and special purpose plug cutters and bits; Bosch Grinder with accessories; a Bric Jigsaw; a Dremel tool with a wide range of bits; an electric car body polisher with grinding paste; an optic fibre viewer/recorder to see in difficult to view locations;Bosch orbital sander; a powerful halogen work light; wrenches, chisels , saws, electrical tool kit, soldering tools, rivet gun, caulking gun, grease gun, etc. All the essential spare parts such as belts, filters, gaskets, pump impeller, fuses and bulbs together with nuts, bolts, screws, rivets and washers that could be needed at sea are also there. Various paints and varnishes are on a rack in the lazarette locker. There are many spare ropes, both long, medium and short to cope with any rafting up or other mooring situation.
There is a portable electric pump for miscellaneous tasks, like pumping bilge water or increasing pressure in the central heating system. A hand suction tool for removing crankcase oil during an oil change.
